Dr. Suzuki Yasujuki, a Niigata Egyetem (Japán) professzorának díszdoktori avatása a Debreceni Egyetemen 2001. november 17.
Dr. Yasuyuki Suzuki, Professor of Physics at Niigata University, is a highly esteemed representative of physics research in Japan. His expertise includes the nuclear cluster model and its applications to hadronic interactions, the study of nuclear collective motion based on symmetry principles, the microscopic theory of the structure and reactions of light exotic nuclei and the variational solution of atomic and nuclear few-body problems. The research conducted by Professor Suzuki is rich in examples for all these aspects, and he has quite a number of classical papers in these fields.
In recent years he has published a great number of papers jointly with co-authors of Debrecen. The cooperation, which has been going on through several short-term and long-term mutual visits and through electronic communication, has been extremely fruitful, its harvest including two books.
Professor Suzuki has initiated an agreement of cooperation between the Faculty of Science and the Graduate School of Science and Technology, Niigata University on the one side and the Faculty of Science, Debrecen University, and the Institute of Nuclear Research on the other side. The first step in the cooperation has been a joint symposium held in Niigata.
Professor Suzuki is a colourful, witty and open-minded personality of European-style erudition, who has a considerable reputation worldwide. The Honorary Degree is to recognize his professional achievements and to express the appreciation of his efforts to strengthen the connection between the two universities.
