Dr. André Falisse, az Gembloux-i Egyetem (Belgium) professzorának díszdoktori avatása a Debreceni Egyetemen 2003. november 29.
André Falisse has been the head of the Department of Crop Production in Temperate Regions at the Agricultural University of Gembloux, Belgium since 1983. He did his postgraduate studies in applied statistics, and received his PhD degree in fertilization and crop protection of winter wheat. He was a visiting professor at the National Agronomic Institute of Alger and was an external examiner at the University of Dublin, Ireland. Professor Falisse was and currently is a member and chairman of several committees of the European Union, and served as an international extension advisor in different countries.
He has published more than 250 scientific papers in international agronomic journals in the fields of small grain cereals crop technology development, variety selection and improvement, organic and inorganic fertilization, crop protection, as well as alternative and sustainable farming systems. Recently, he focused his scientific activities on the assessment and prevention of the negative impacts of agriculture on the environment, the diversification of non-food crops and aromatic-medicinal plants, the modeling of mineral nitrogen in the soil and remote sensing applications in agriculture.
He has close educational and scientific contacts with our faculty and has supported collaborations between our crop science departments.
