Dr. Werner Hohenberger, az Erlangeni Friedrich Alexander Egyetem (Németország) professzorának díszdoktori avatása a Debreceni Egyetemen 2005. június 4.
Professor Werner Hohenberger is an outstanding member of the international surgical community. The main line of his professional activities is surgical oncology in particular colorectal surgery. The results of his therapeutic and scientific work are summarised in over 300 publications in the leading medical journals of the world among others International Journal of Colorectal Diseases, European Journal of Surgical Oncology and New England Journal of Medicine. His activities involve chairmanship in a number of scientific societies and editorial boards of publication committees.
The 1st Department of Surgery of the Medical and Health Science Center of Debrecen University has had close and exemplary personal cooperation with the Surgical Department of Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen, Germany for ten years. The success of this fruitful cooperation can mainly be attributed to Professor Werner Hohenberger the Director of Department.
His brilliant surgical techniques must also be mentioned, which many Hungarian surgeons had the pleasure of admiring on live demonstrations both in Erlangen and in our Department.
