Dr. Jan Ulrik Prause, a Koppenhágai Egyetem (Dánia) professzorának díszdoktori avatása a Debreceni Egyetemen 2007. június 2.

 

Dr. Jan Ulrik Prause graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1972 at the University of Copenhagen, specialized in Ophthalmology in 1986, and in Ophthalmic Pathology in 1990. He was awarded the “Gold Medal of the Copenhagen University” in 1972, and acquired his DSc degree in Medicine with honours in 1984. He receieved the “Lacrimal Award” in 1984, for clearing up the cellular and biochemical mechanisms involved in the degradation and healing of the cornea. He got the “Sjögren’ Syndrome Award” in 1988, for his fundamental work in the field of the pathogenesis of autoimmune eye diseases and uveitis. He became the professor of the Eye Pathology Institute, and the chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He holds leading positions in international councils, boards and trusts. He is the vice president of the European Association for Vision and Eye Research, the chairman of the Ophthalmic Oncology Task Force, the President of the European Ophthalmic Pathology Society, Council member of the European Ophthalmological Society, and the President of the Danish Ophthalmological Society. He is widely recognised for his outstanding research results in the fields of ocular oncology, ophthalmic pathology, orbital and retinal diseases, as well as corneal and ocular surface diseases. During the past 25 years, he developed research collaboration with, and has held lectures and a PhD course at the Department of Opthalmology of the University of Debrecen.
