Dr. Grzegorz W. Kołodko, a lengyelországi Kozminski Egyetem professzorának díszdoktori avatása a Debreceni Egyetemen 2009. november 28.

 

Grzegorz W. Kolodko has been a significant figure in Poland’s economic reforms: a world famous professor who has specialised in economic development, the post-communist economic reforms and public finance. He has been one of the leading figures in the changes in the political and economic systems that followed 1989 and took part in the round table discussions to determine Poland’s future. Between 1993 and 1997 and again between 2002 and 2003 he was the First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister in four governments. He has also worked as an expert advisor for the IMF, the World Bank, the United Nations and the OECD, and has received several awards from the Polish state for his governmental, scientific and educational activities.
He is the author of 40 books on economics and more than 300 academic articles. His works have been translated into more than 20 languages. He worked as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Illinois and at present he is a professor at Kozminski University, and previously carried out teaching and research at the Warsaw School of Economics, Yale University, UCLA and Rochester University. He is the founder and director of the TIGER – Transformation, Integration and Globalization Economics Research – research institute.
Several of the staff at the Faculty have already had academic papers published in the Tiger Working Paper Series. Visiting teachers from Professor Kolodko’s institute have been involved in the Faculty’s English language course. From 2010, in cooperation with the Erasmus Programme, we would like to develop the fruitful relationship between University of Debrecen Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Kozminski University.
