Accessible version

The portal family uses software elements that enable it to meet current accessibility professional expectations and standards. Among the available technological options, we strive to apply technological solutions by professional standards, according to the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standard.
The University of Debrecen is committed to making its website accessible following Act LXXV of 2018 on Accessibility.
Currently, the websites of the portal family partially comply with Act LXXV of 2018. Partial compliance applies to the following non-accessible content:

  • For users of screen readers, the content on the website may include images or icons that do not have text alternatives, have an inappropriate text alternative or the hierarchy of the headline is wrong.
  • A link, graphic or text element on the website that has a contrast ratio below the expected level.
  • The pages of the website may contain videos from external sources, third parties that do not have text subtitles, and refer to media content that the keyboard cannot sufficiently control.
  • The website may contain scanned PDF files that cannot be read aloud.

The University of Debrecen aims to make the institutional websites fully accessible as soon as possible. To this end, we strive to implement solutions that enable our web content to be easily accessible to people with disabilities, including people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, linguistic, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Our websites have valid content, meaning that our content is easy to understand and use, and supports multiple devices and browsers. Our web interfaces are adaptive. Most elements of the portal family can be accessed via keyboard, and we strive to keep our content clean and simple so that people with disabilities can easily understand and use it. Our surfaces are robust, meaning our content is flexible and sophisticated, compatible with compromised assistance technology. During the development, we put great emphasis on finding text alternatives to our non-text content in the case of uploaded content, so that our websites work with clear and consistent navigation mechanisms. Another important element is that our portal family has access to keyboards and alternative input methods.
According to the WCAG standard's recommendations, contrast mode is no longer part of accessibility in the unideb.hu portal family, instead, other, more modern tools have been introduced (e.g. supporting reading software, keyboard structure [by pressing the TAB key]).
Due to the responsive design of the website, the content flexibly adapts to the screen sizes of different devices, thus providing users with an optimal appearance. During the design, the institution paid special attention to the fact that the design and layout should be carefully planned, so that adapting to smaller screens does not negatively affect the site's usability.
The University of Debrecen’s websites are highly visited. For all those who need help using our websites, we help with the most innovative accessibility solutions as described above.
