The British Times Higher Education (THE) world ranking only includes higher education institutions that offer basic training and trainings in several academic fields. The ranking is compiled based on indicators referring to the learning environment, research, publication citations related to the institution, market revenue, the number of international staff and students.
The list includes 13 Hungarian universities among the more than 1900 ranked institutions, of which, Semmelweis University was ranked the highest, 251-300th place. The University of Debrecen was ranked in the 601-800th category on the list. The Eötvös Loránd University is in the 801-1000th category. The Óbuda University together with the University of Pécs, and the University of Szeged, is categorized 1001-1200th this year. The rest of the Hungarian universities are listed in 1201-1500th and 1501+ categories.
