The Same-Day Ophthalmology Center of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen is a leading provider of ophthalmic healthcare services in Eastern Hungary, serving as a regional referral center for comprehensive eye care. Through its two clinical sites, the Center delivers approximately 60,000 outpatient consultations and nearly 4,000 surgical procedures annually, while ensuring continuous emergency ophthalmological coverage.
Outpatient ophthalmic services for both adults and children are provided at the Bethlen Street Outpatient Clinic, where five examination rooms operate between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Specialized ophthalmology clinics and additional outpatient services are located at the Kenézy Campus, where four outpatient units offer a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
The surgical division is situated on the sixth floor of the Kenézy Campus and is supported by a 20-bed inpatient facility. Surgical procedures are performed in three dedicated operating theatres equipped to provide high-quality ophthalmic care across a wide spectrum of conditions.
Working within a multidisciplinary framework and in close collaboration with other medical specialties, our highly qualified ophthalmologists and healthcare professionals provide comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical management of ophthalmic disorders, including:

Emergency Ophthalmology Services
Patients presenting with urgent ophthalmic conditions or newly developed symptoms may attend the Emergency Outpatient Clinic without a prior appointment on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Clinical prioritization and treatment decisions are determined by the attending ophthalmologist based on medical urgency.
Outside regular operating hours, emergency ophthalmology services are available through the on-call system at the Kenézy Campus. Following registration at the Emergency Department and consultation with the ophthalmologist on duty, appropriate specialist care is provided.
