QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Rankings

The London-based Quacquarelli Symonds company has been creating the world rankings of higher education institutions since 2004.
Since creating the ‘2024’ ranking, experts took nine criteria instead of the previous six, to determine the institutions’ ranking:

  • Academic Reputation (30%)
  • Employer Reputation (15%)
  • Faculty Student Ratio (10%)
  • Citations per Faculty (20%)
  • International Faculty Ratio (5%)
  • International Student Ratio (5%)
  • International Research Network (5%)
  • Employment Outcomes (5%)
  • Sustainability (5%)

11 Hungarian universities were included in the latest, ’2025’ world university rankings of QS. The University of Debrecen is ranked 574th. The Debrecen institution is only preceded by the University of Szeged (601-610th). Eötvös Loránd University (ranked 574th), Budapest University of Technology and Economics (ranked 721-730th) and University of Pécs (ranked 771-780th) were among the top 1000 Hungarian institutions.
