In addition to the general internal medicine area of responsibility – our clinic focuses primarily on clinical immunology and the care of immunological patients (systemic autoimmune diseases, primary immunodeficiency, reproductive immunity) as Internal Medicine Center for Immunology in this region of Hungary. Our other main area of interest is the care of patients with vascular diseases (vascular stenosis, venous diseases etc.), which we provide in our Angiology Department. The application of different apheresis techniques should be also highlighted, which are used primarily in acute immunoneurological diseases and in crisis situations in autoimmune patients in our Apheresis Department.
In the Internal Medicine Center for Immunology, 8 senior immunologists provide care for patients with systemic autoimmune diseases and primary immunodeficiency in 66 hours per week in 4 specialist rooms. The center has 43 beds available for immunology care, 5 beds for rheumatology care and 2 beds for intensive care. We provide immunoglobulin supplementation and biological therapies to our outpatients in our dedicated immunotherapy beds. Our center receives systemic autoimmune patients from all over the country (SLE, Sjögren's syndrome, systemic sclerosis, inflammatory muscle diseases, mixed connective tissue disease, antiphospholipid syndrome, polyarthritis), we provide care for patients with primary immunodeficiency and we also perform reproductive immunity testing.
In our Angiology Department, 3 senior angiologists provide care for vascular patients (vascular stenosis) from our region, 1 senior specialist cares for patients with venous insufficiency and 1 senior specialist cares for patients with Raynaud's syndrome in our outpatient department. The department has 16 angiological and 2 intensive therapy inpatient beds, and provides rheological treatments as part of a curative care program. Diagnostic and interventional procedures (DSA, CT angiography, stenting, dilatation) are organised in this department.
Our Apheresis Department has 5 intensive care beds, where all types of apherepheresis (plasma-, photo- and rheopheresis) treatments are available. Our department provides regional care for acute neuroimmunological crisis conditions (myasthenia gravis, Guillan-Barre syndrome) and crisis conditions in systemic autoimmune diseases.
The clinic's teaching work includes the following areas of internal medicine within the general medical education: clinical propaedeutics, clinical immunology and rheumatology, thematic education in angiology, as well as participation in mid-year and summer internal medicine block exercises. In addition to general medical education, we also play a significant role in the internal medicine education of students participating in dental training, and specialist training also takes place at our clinic. Our educational activities also extend to the training of professionals, during which nurses, rheumatology nurses, cardiology and angiology assistants, graduate nurses, physiotherapists, and patient attendants come to our clinic to complete their internship.
