Department of Oncology

The University of Debrecen's Oncology Clinic plays a leading role in the treatment of cancerous diseases in Hungary. The institution is committed to providing high-quality patient care and is continuously working to become one of the leading healthcare centers in the country and the region. Several of our staff members are board members of the Hungarian Society of Clinical Oncology (HSCO). Patient care at the institution follows the most modern professional principles, ensuring the highest standard of treatment based on several factors:

  • Interdisciplinary Teamwork: The coordinated work of oncoteams guarantees that patients receive the most optimal treatment strategies. These teams consist of up-to-date well-prepared oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and nuclear medicine specialists who collectively decide on treatment plans based on consensus. The committee meets weekly, and patients can participate in the discussions if needed.
  • Application of the Latest Guidelines: Treatments consider the latest national and international guidelines, ensuring that patients receive the most contemporary and sophisticated therapies. Our staff regularly participates in continous training and also serves as presenters at such events. Our staff members frequently publish in hungarian and international journals (Publication 1, Publication 2). Additionally, psycho-oncological and physiotherapeutic units operate, offering individual and group therapies to alleviate psychological and physical symptoms.
