The investigation and treatment of infertility using assisted reproductive techniques such as insemination (artificial sperm injection) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) have had a history of more than three decades in the University of Debrecen.
At the beginning, we provided IVF treatment as members of the Infertility Working Group at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and then, after 2003, we existed as an independent unit with expanded capacity and were supervised by a private service provider for 15 years.
Since 2018, the Assisted Reproduction Center has functioned as an independent unit under the direct supervision of the Clinical Center at the University of Debrecen. Currently the staff consists of three obstetrician-gynecologists, plus qualified and experienced embryologists and a team of skilled assistants. Our employees have access to and use the internationally renowned diagnostic and scientific capacity at the Clinical Center.
ARC at the Clinical Center offers its services in the field of assisted reproductive procedures for couples coping with infertility issues. Regardless of having health insurance or paying for the interventions, childless couples – within or outside the area of the care-providing facility – can expect treatment basically through IVF and ICSI procedures and their different variants.
Even compared to its international counterparts, the Assisted Reproduction Center can satisfy the needs of couples desiring children as it has up-to-date setting, as well as uniquely high-standard equipment in the embryology and andrology laboratories.
In recent years, support for assisted reproductive interventions has expanded significantly, and examinations have become free of charge for both males and females as has treatment, including the majority of medicines required in the procedures.
Nationally, care is only allowed in governmental institutions, it is concentrated in accredited infertility centers, so that the highest possible professional standard is available. The least burdensome and most effective methods are offered to help couples waiting for children to become parents as quickly as possible.
Knowledge of national and international recommendations, evidence-based medicine, putting the results into everyday practice, the introduction of new and individualized treatment, the use of protocols and a continuous quality control, all contribute to the complete satisfaction of our patients and, also, enable us to help infertile couples more efficiently.
