The establishment of Christian Roma colleges for advanced studies is a unique initiative in Europe. Based on an agreement concluded with the government, the historic Churches of Hungary established the Network of Christian Roma Colleges of Advanced Studies in close cooperation with each other in 2011. The St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Roma College for Advanced Studies was established in Debrecen in the summer of 2015 as the sixth institution of this network.
The number of students in the college during the first academic year increased from 12 to 20, they represent almost all faculties of the University of Debrecen.
*Objectives: *As a member of the network, the college for advanced studies was created with the objective of providing those conditions with its scholarly programs and tools which contribute to the quality education of young intellectuals who are sensitive to social issues affecting the Roma population and who retain Christian values.
