The Laboratory Medicine Institute of the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen Teaching Hospital is a regular participant of the biennial congress of the Hungarian Society of Laboratory Medicine and is also involved in the operation of the society and the organization of its programs. The society is based on the voluntary association of members from different branches of clinical laboratory medicine and it supports academic and medical work, further training, advocacy activities, the development of national and international contacts and relationships, and helps guarantee the high-quality work of laboratories. The Laboratory Medicine Institute is devoted to providing further training for the staff working in the field of laboratory medicine and thus organizes its annual training program for laboratory specialists. The training course provides up-to-date information for participants thematically discussing the current issues in hematology and hemostasis laboratory medicine. The annual Regional Laboratory Medicine Meeting also facilitates the spreading and sharing of information in laboratory diagnostics and provides an opportunity for head physicians to get to know those problems and challenges that a laboratory can encounter in connection with the determination of particular analytes, the establishment of reference values, auto-validation, and the regional distribution of tests.
