In 2024, the University of Indonesia assessed 1183 universities, within the framework of its ’GreenMetric’ project. They examined how ’green’ and environmentally conscious the individual institutions are, the size of green areas the campuses have and what measures have been taken to counteract the negative effects of climate change and support sustainable environmental development.
The University of Pécs – as the best Hungarian institution – was ranked 25th, while the University of Debrecen was ranked 394th on the list.
The greenest university in the world according to the list is the Dutch Wageningen University & Research, followed by the British Nottingham Trent University and the Dutch University of Groningen.
