In harmony with the “Health Promoting University” concept, the objective of the University of Debrecen is to support the university community (faculty, students, and staff) by means of popularizing a sporty lifestyle.
The Institute for Sports Sciences has a key role in the development and implementation of the “Health Promoting University” strategy. The conditions for institutional strategy can be provided through external funding resources and our own budget.
The university can contribute to the realization of objectives with the coordination of programs popularizing regular physical exercise and focusing on a healthy lifestyle, by providing other sports services, and supporting cooperative research.
The sports facilities of the university provide a venue for local and national events dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The Sports Diagnostics, Lifestyle, and Therapy Center established in the Nagyerdei Stadium with an area of 1,000 m2 is supervised by the institute. This center, along with the Sports Science Education Center, provides the academic and infrastructural basis for teaching and research. Moreover, the Sports and Fitness Center with an area of 900 m2 and state-of-the-art equipment and diagnostic tools will also be opened in the fall of 2016.
