On May 1, 2023, the largest integrated ortopedics and traumatology institute in the country was formed by the unification of the Clinic of Orthopedics which was founded in 1961 and the Clinic of Traumatology founded in 1958 (renamed Department of Traumatology and Hand Surgery in1994). Practically the entire spectrum of musculoskeletal surgery is covered in our clinic with 154 beds and 66 doctors. The clinic ensures continual on-call services for the population of 550000 in Hajdu-Bihar county as well as the north lowland area, however in cases of special fractures or other procedures patients from other parts of the country as well as foreign patients are also well-received. As the regional orthopedic and traumatological center, both elective and acute musculoskeletal surgical procedures are performed at the highest level 3 of progressivity. More than 7000 surgical procedures are performed yearly in 8 operating theaters (2 acute, 3 elective, 2 one-day surgery, and 1 septic theater), of which there are special regional center surgeries performed as well. Almost 140,000 outpatients are treated yearly in our 13 outpatient clinics (offices).
