Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

The rehabilitation department provides therapy for patients in a new, modern, and European-quality environment and with state of the art equipment made available by the EU-funded ÉAOP 4.1.2.C. project. We provide complex rehabilitation and healing services on close to 60 inpatient beds and in outpatient clinics. The key fields of care of the rehabilitation department include the treatment of children and adults in need of complex rehabilitation (requiring care form several fields) due to neurological injuries, stroke and other neurological diseases. Besides this the rehabilitation of patients with cardiovascular problems, overweight patients, people suffering from musculoskeletal disorders, limb deficiencies, and those requiring or using artificial limbs is also central.  Medical specialists, physiotherapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, dietitians, nurses, specialist assistants, and volunteers work together to help the recovery and rehabilitation of patients. Our department is primarily responsible for the rehabilitation services of the population of Debrecen (approx. 230,000 people), while it also receives patients requiring special care from the entire North-Eastern Hungary region (approx. 3 million people). The latter group includes patients requiring complex care or suffering from more severe and special problems (spasticity, Baclofen pump). Follow-up care of inpatients is provided every day at our outpatient clinic.
